COBRA

COBRA (Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act) is a federal law that allows employees and their eligible dependents to continue their group health benefits after they leave employment. This federal law applies to companies with twenty (20) or more employees. The Maryland Continuation Law allows a similar benefit for companies with less then 20 employees.
